Product Overview
The available configurations is an industrial spray dryer used for producing powder from herbal extracts, botanical concentrates and other plant-derived liquids.
The high-speed centrifugal atomizer disperses the liquid feed into fine droplets. Controlled contact with heated air provides rapid moisture removal while the cold-wall and anti-deposition systems address the sticking and thermal sensitivity commonly associated with concentrated extracts.
The drying equipment uses a closed process route with stainless-steel product-contact surfaces, configurable air purification, a centrifugal drying chamber and staged powder recovery. Final construction materials, filtration level and cleaning scope are confirmed for each project.
Working Principle
Filtered air is heated and introduced into the drying chamber. The conditioned extract is atomized into fine droplets, moisture is removed during contact with the hot-air stream, and the resulting powder is separated from the exhaust air.
Operation Process
The operating sequence below describes the standard dryer process route. Setpoints and cleaning procedures are defined during project engineering.
The herbal or botanical extract is screened, mixed and held at the required feed condition. A temperature-controlled feed tank can be supplied when needed.
Process air passes through the specified filtration stages and is heated by the configured steam and electric heating system.
The feed enters the high-speed centrifugal atomizer and is dispersed into droplets suitable for rapid moisture removal.
Droplets contact the hot-air stream inside the chamber. The cold-wall jacket, air sweep and knocking device help limit deposition on the tower wall.
Dried powder is recovered through the selected two-stage cyclone system or a cyclone combined with a wet scrubber.
Finished powder is discharged at the designated collection point, while separated exhaust air leaves through the induced-draft system.
Key Features
Options are selected according to feed viscosity, heat sensitivity, hygiene requirements and the existing plant utility system.
A cold-air jacket is provided around the tower. The reference design targets a wall temperature below 80°C under the specified operating conditions.
Air sweeping and automatic knocking can be used to reduce wall build-up when processing sticky herbal extracts.
Product-contact parts are manufactured in stainless steel; full stainless-steel construction can be specified where required.
Quick-opening cleaning ports and drain connections are provided on the tower and process piping. Manual high-pressure tower washing is available as an option.
Multi-stage process-air purification can be configured, with the required filter class confirmed during engineering.
The collection train can use two cyclone stages or a primary cyclone followed by wet scrubbing, depending on recovery and exhaust requirements.
An automatically controlled, constant-temperature feed tank can be integrated for feeds that require stable viscosity or temperature.
Reference controls include continuous inlet-air temperature control, temperature and pressure regulation, interlocks and alarm functions.
